In Greek mythology, Icarus is the son of the labyrinth creator Daedalus. In order to escape the tower within the labyrinth, Daedalus designed wings for flight, but these wings were constructed with wax and feathers, unable to withstand high temperatures. Therefore, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too low, lest the sea dampen the wings, or too high, lest the heat of the sun melt them. However, the young Icarus, enamored with the joy of flying for the first time, flew higher and higher, dangerously close to the sun. The wings melted, and he fell into the sea and drowned.This fable is often used to caution against hubris, but within it, I find a tragic aesthetic, a tension between desire and reason, and an exploration of the meaning of life. If we embrace our ultimate dreams, even unto death, and die in the happiness of fulfilled desires, then perhaps our lives are like amber, frozen in a moment of bloom.

This piece is divided into three sections: I. Schools of Fish Swimming: II. Unfolding Among the Waves: III. Days at Sea The overall creative concept is based on the poem "On the Sea" by Hai Zi, while the melodic motifs are drawn from the traditional Cantonese folk song "Falling into the Water." In the first part, the tremolo of the double bass is used to depict the swimming posture of fish in the water and the ripples on the surface, while presenting thematic fragments in a fragmented and motif-based manner. The second part sees the music beginning to flow, with extensive use of legato passages and interspersed long melodic lines. Contrasts between high and low notes accompany the continuous lines, eventually forming blocks of fierce waves. In the third part, the complete Cantonese folk song "Falling into the Water" is presented, but with extensive use of breathing pauses to create a "yiyiya" humming effect, reminiscent of the distant and ethereal singing of fishermen drifting through the sea breeze.

Transcendental Nightingale tells the true story of Elizabeth Blackwell (1821-1910), the first woman to be licensed as a medical doctor in the United States in 1849. In this aria, the 26-year-old Elizabeth is processing a series of rejections from medical schools who will not consider her application. She has been advised that the only way to earn a medical degree is to leave the United States for Europe and apply to schools under an assumed name, disguised as a man. Now, she makes a final decision about how to move forward with her dream: pursue her degree under a false name, or face yet another rejection as her true self? There was smoke everywhere, and the soldiers roared everywhere. The bow and arrow fell like rain. He went through difficulties. Finally, the world was quiet, A arrow shot through his chest. Suddenly everything disappeared, all he can hear is the sound of motherland, smell the taste flowers in hometown. "ah....If I can go back to that ..." He fell Fell into a field full of corpses surrounded only by the gray armor and blood red.

This work was commissioned by the Second Sichuan Folk Music Collection Program for Young Chinese Composers of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. It is the author's recollection of folk music collection in Daliang Mountain, as well as a reflection inspired by the poetry of Jidi Majia. Daliang Mountain is vibrant and colorful. In my memories, there are mountains, clouds, as well as bright singing voices and dark faces. "Summer pairs with Spring, Autumn pairs with Winter, Mourning Drum pairs with Morning Bell." The chimes are a form of belief, their sounds carried from beyond the mountains. The melodic material of this piece is built upon a perfect fourth and employs a wide range of emotional expressions in its orchestration. The percussion ensemble converses with the ethnic instrumentalists and the chimes, creating a harmonious dialogue.

I began to study Chinese ancient prose in depth. From Confucius, Mencius and Zhuangzi to The Songs of Chu and the book of songs. I gradually understand that philosophy is simple words and unity of knowing and doing. The way of a gentleman is to cultivate one's moral integrity through quietness and thrift. I have just begun to understand the beauty of Chinese characters.

The inspiration for this work comes from a short stories named<fog> of the Chinese avant-garde female writer: Can Xue. This story tells of one day our room was full of fog. fluff grew all around me. My mother was crazy. My brothers couldn't walk and they already beyond 20 years old. Dad tied my brothers to his belt and flung them around. This piece' s material is based on some discordant intervals, and overtones. Violin' s overtones are like infinity sound, like you always could hear that sound somewhere. All the overtones in this piece, they are continuous, Maintained, keeping sound.

This work was commissioned by Hainan University and included as one movement in the symphonic suite "Tropical Rainforest". "The sheltering bamboo tiles, the carrying bamboo raft." The overall conception of this piece is based on the original sound characteristics of the national-level intangible cultural heritage project: the Hainan Li ethnic group's "bamboo and wood”instrumental music. Utilizing the solo instrument marimba and other percussion instruments, the composer attempts to create a rich and colorful musical spiritual world of the Li ethnic group. Additionally, the melody of the Hainan Li ethnic folk song "Long Time No See, Long Time See" appears prominently or subtly throughout the entire piece, serving as an important source of melodic pitch for this composition.

Andry had been playing the piano for fifteen years, but he faced a setback when he failed at the Bernstein piano contest, disappointing everyone around him. Feeling hopeless, he eventually picked himself up and decided to become a piano tuner, pretending to be blind by wearing special contact lenses. This deception allowed others to perceive his hearing as more acute, garnering sympathy and more money. Additionally, he found pleasure in secretly observing others' privacy. However, one day, while working at a house, he unknowingly stumbled upon a crime scene... The work was selected for the 2018 ISCM&BMMF "WORLD NEW MUSIC DAYS" contemporary music festival, premiered by conductor Xu Zhong and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. Day and night I overlook the tall buildings outside the window, staring at the distant sky, desire for everything in the world, so I use my imagination to describe it, sing it, and then praise it. The object of singing is a kind of belief, which comes from imagination outside the desert but can't reach. * This piece was premiered by conductor Lin Dayeh and the NCPA Orchestra as part of the 6th NCPA Young Composers Programme.
